tralalalala
I'm watching Monsters, Inc. for the first time! omggg Boo is freaking adorable. Luke is the Kitty to my Boo, too. Squeeeeeee.
Anywho, thanks to everyone who's been participating in my poll. According to my calculations, you're all really busy right now, and I wish everyone the best of luck with exams, exhaustion, and general life stress. ♥ You'll all make it through this! Also, most of you are without religion, but those of you with religion are Christian, as a whole. You are annoyed by gas prices, but are putting up with them, anyway. Finally, pretty much all of you are either my age, or slightly above. Oh, and a good handful of you want some pillows, so I'll be making a post later. Keep an eye out!
Now, for something lovingly stolen from
fallsintoplace:
You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-word answers seldom help anyone out.
1. First Name: My first name is Christine. My mother didn't want to name me after anyone, but her mother's name was Pauline, and she wanted something that rhymed, sooo there we go. My name was *almost* Randi Michelle. I used to think I'd like that better, but "Christine" has grown on me.
2. Age: I am 19 years old. I'll be 20 on August 9. No, I've never had a birthday party. Maybe you should throw me one? ;)
3. Location: Orlando, FL. I was born and raised here. During the school year, I live in Pensacola, FL, while I attend UWF. That'll be the cycle of things for the next two years or so.
4. Occupation: Aside from being a full-time student, I am employed with the University of West Florida's Honors Program as its webmaster and the Honors Council President. So, that's two jobs. I might be getting another one on Monday, but I'm staying hushy about that one because I'm not sure how that's going to work out.
5. Partner: I'm dating Luke, and have been for the past five+ years. No, we aren't engaged, nor will we be any time soon. We're just together. We met online, on a MUD, actually, and have now lived together for the past 2.5 years or so. He's from Louisiana, and moved in with my family after Hurricane Rita and after his father passed away. We either act like we're siblings or we're married at any given moment. We have our cutesy couple moments, though. Just don't tell anyone.
6. Kids: I don't want any, although I do have a raging maternal instinct. I love little girls, but I love kittens more than I love little girls, so I think I'm just going to be the crazy cat lady who owns a million felines and lives with them instead of stinky nasty children. Ironically, though, I want to be pregnant. I think I'd make the cutest little pregnant chick in the whole wide world. I'd like to maybe be a mother for families who can't have babies, or something. If I ever did have a kid of my own, I would ideally adopt an older kid. You know, one of the kids who's "too old" to be adopted. I just want to help.
7. Brothers/Sisters: I am actually an only child! Like I said earlier, Luke and I act like we've grown up together as siblings, sometimes, buuut no. Not really. It's just me. :) I'm surprisingly good at sharing for being an only child! I do have that "GIVE ME ATTENTION ALL THE TIME" syndrome, though.
8. Pets: In my life, I have had two dogs, and am now on my first cat. When I was a baby, we had Jazz. Then, when I was five or so, we got my Maggie Mae. She was the most gorgeous German Shepherd/Golden Lab mix, and she and I grew up together, and we had to put her to sleep when I was sixteen. I miss her like crazy. We waited six months, though, and then we adopted Mimi, the sweetest little black cat in the whole world. She's really scared, really easily, a lot of the time, and strangers make her shy, but she purrs like a motorboat when you get her in the right mood. She randomly runs through the house at break-neck speed and flops over on her side until you pay attention to her. We enjoy having bathtub time, as well as foot-foot and deathmatch.
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
one. I'll be going to Glasgow, Scotland on July 25. This will begin the process of the completion of my Honors thesis. I should actually start doing some work on it before then, but eh. I'll get there when July rolls around. Anywho, I'll be acting as the *deep breath* Assistant Administrator of the International Improving University Teaching Conference. I decided I wanted to make the subject of my thesis "The Roles of the Modern Humanities in Conference Administration." Meaning, how do technical theatre, communication arts, and anthropology come into play when setting up a conference? Also known as, a bullshitty, easy way to get me to Scotland for a weekish.
two. Becoming President of the UWF Honors Council is a kind-of big deal. I've got a lot of responsibility now: helping to choose the new assistant director of the whole program, organizing the fall retreat, keeping everything in the world in line... Yeah. It's pretty darn cool. I'm really excited for this year!
three. Being a member of the
richweirdoesis really important to me right now, although I'm missing a show tonight, I missed a show last night, and I missed rehearsal last weekend. Ugh. Fucking circumstances. Circumstances being, of course, that Luke has either been 1) exhausted or 2) sick as heck, and I don't have my own car. I don't even drive, so it's not like I could borrow a car. It sucks to be afraid of driving, but I can't do anything about it right now. ANYWAY. I'm currently a Transylvanian, trying to be "Trixie," and eventually Eddie. I keep saying that; let's see it come to fruition. Anyway. I love being on the Rocky Horror cast. Orlando's got the best one, baby!
four. Buhhh. Anything else "big" ? I'm finishing up with one online course, and am about to start another. (History of Rock & Roll → People & Cultures of the World). Speaking of which, I really should be finishing a project for the first, and doing some forum discussions for the second... but I'd rather be doing this. :D With these classes, I will have 89 fucking credits in August. Meaning that I'm a Senior -1. I think that's how I'd like to put it. Ughhhhhhh. I'm just going to say I'm a Senior anyway, dammit! Seriously. It's not fair, haha. I want to be a whole year ahead, not just half a year! Poop it all to heck. I could still graduate a whole year early. That's the important part. Not like I'm going to, though.
five. Um. Nothing else big is going on in my life right now. That's kind-of the problem. I'm not quite sure where I'd like to go from here, after school, that is. I want to work with big cats. I want to volunteer professionally for my whole life. I want to travel for a living. I want to go to fancy conferences. I want to administrate fancy conferences. I want to act, and make people happy. There are just so many things I want to do with my life and I have no idea how I'm going to get to any of them. Right now, I'm just focusing on being academically excellent.
10. Where and for what did you go to school for? Oh, I think I've already answered these, haha. I go to school in Pensacola, FL, at UWF. I'm currently an Interdisciplinary Humanities major focusing on Theatre, Communication Arts, and Anthropology. I'm also trying to get a minor in Psychology. I had wanted to get minors in Video Game Design and Special Education, but neither is quite up my alley. I'd rather play video games, and I don't want to be a teacher, just someone who can work with special kids. So, yeah. That's where I am. I could graduate a year early if I wanted to, but I think I'm just going to chill, use the money that scholarships are giving me, and take as many fun classes as I can.
11. Parents? I've got two of 'em still with me, and they're still married. Amazing in this day and age, I know. They're both 49. They went to high school together, and Mom was dating Dad's best friend at the time. She liked to cheat on that best friend with Dad quite frequently. Anywho, she told Dad she loved him, and they didn't see eachother for ten years. Then, they got back together magically, moved in together, got knocked up, and got married, in that order. They used to have some pretty interesting problems with drugs and crazy lifestyles, but that all ended when I was about two years old. Now, they've just got some smokey issues, and some drinky issues. Mom has been diagnosed with several mental disorders, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She's usually "fun" about two days of the week. Dad doesn't have anything psychological to deal with, but he's had not only a quadruple bypass in his short lifetime, but also an aortic aneurism, a triple bypass, a whole in his heart fixed, a valve replaced, and a blood clot in his spleen... and now has a pacemaker. He's the one we're really worried about most of the time, but he's stubborn and he presses forward. I have a really good relationship with my parents. We've always gotten along really well. They've always trusted me, and I've always respected them, at least to some significant degree. There was never any of that "ma'am/sir" crap with us. We talk to eachother like we're friends, not like there's some stupid formality we have to observe. They're... pretty awesome, really, even when they're being asshats. Which isn't too often in the grand scheme of things. ♥
12. Who are some of your closest friends? Oh, there you go assuming that I have close friends, haha. Well, Luke is my closest friend, period. He's the only one who can see me at my absolute worst, silliest, and best. No one else has seen me the way he has, and I doubt anyone ever will. That being said, Joshes and Andy are my closest friends, even though we don't talk nearly as often as we should. I met them online when I was 13 years old, almost dated the first, dated the second for six months, had an unhealthy relationship with the second until I got with Luke... and still occasionally have an unhealthy relationship with him when we get to talking. Joshes and I bond more lately over gaming and DarkBlade stuff (DarkBlade being where I met these fabulous boys). Right now, Andy and I are going through that period where we don't talk, because we're busy or trying to be distant, but I'm trying to break us into another six months of friendship or so. Hmm. Steph is becoming a good friend of mine, and I want Pixi to, and Logan's somewhere up there, and Tracy maybe, and soon Lorelei and David will be my bffs, and I haven't spoken with Courtney enough lately... but that's about it. I don't really have ~close friends~ any more, but I say that with absolutely no regrets since I was in a pretty unstable close friendship with tons of people in the past year and am glad to be rid of all the drama, although the people individually are all okay by me. So, yeah. That's where I stand socially. I'm a little keen to make new friends at this point, or at least become closer to the ones I've already made. It's weird that I've never been able to keep a girl best friend for more than four years... hmm. Guys must just fit better with me.
There you have it! Luke's watching Transporter 2, and I've had wayyy too much pizza, but I'm about to have another bite. Boohaha. I made Dad a father's day card, anddd yeah. Not much to report here.
Ta'!
